Built by the sector, for the sector.

Since 2015, we have built the technology that funders, nonprofits, and governments run their programmes on.

Our story

The idea took shape at the Institute of Rural Management Anand between 2012 and 2014. Sunandan Madan and Swapnil Agarwal formally founded Dhwani Rural Information Systems in 2015.

Field teams were stuck with paper and spreadsheets. Funders could not see what was happening. Governments were running population-scale programmes on tools that could not keep up.

So we built software specifically for the impact sector, with people who have spent their careers in it. Field data apps that work offline. Dashboards funders actually use. Grant and donor systems, MIS, and the consulting to make it all land.

A decade on, that work runs across 10 countries and 200+ organisations, and it is held to ISO 27001, Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) and GDPR standards.

Built on open source

Much of what we build sits on Frappe, the open-source low-code framework behind ERPNext, not a closed, proprietary stack we control alone.

We think the impact sector is better served by open, inspectable technology than by vendor lock-in. Where we can, we contribute back, through code, documentation, and by helping the developers who extend these tools.
